Hi, I’m Rena (she/her), a registered clinical counsellor who understands that some pain doesn’t come with easy words. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by stress and anxiety, struggling in your relationships, navigating an eating disorder, healing from trauma, or in the waves of grief and loss, you don’t have to do it alone.
My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in the mind–body connection. I integrate evidence-based therapies such as EMDR and narrative work with somatic awareness, supporting both insight and skill-building. We move at your pace, learning to gently disrupt patterns that may no longer serve you and to build new ways of responding that support regulation, connection, and choice.
I work with children, youth, and adults navigating the quiet and not-so-quiet aftermath of harm, relational trauma, violations of trust, coercive dynamics, and experiences where safety, voice, or choice were taken away, and how these experiences continue to shape emotional and psychological well-being.
My background, a blend of Bengali (Indian) and Dutch (European) cultural roots, over two decades of experience supporting people through complex life challenges, and a deep understanding of how adversity, instability, and unequal power shape development and relationships, this shapes the way I show up in this work: with compassion, curiosity, and care.
Outside of sessions, I’m often in nature with my daughter—snowboarding in the winter, paddle boarding in the summer, or soaking in the quiet beauty of the Kootenays. I believe healing isn’t confined to a therapy room; it’s also found in the places where we feel grounded, connected, and most ourselves.
If you’re looking for a counsellor who will listen without judgment, walk alongside you, and support meaningful change, you’re in the right place. I offer in-person sessions in Nelson, BC, and virtual counselling across British Columbia.
